Privacy Policy
Effective: July 3, 2026
This policy covers roske.ai, the personal website of Edward Roske. It explains what the site collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. The site is a static website: it has no user accounts, no login, and no database of visitors.
The short version
roske.ai runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no cross-site tracking cookies. It does not sell or rent personal information to anyone. The only personal information it collects is what you choose to type into a form (a contact message, a speaking inquiry, or a newsletter signup), and that goes only to Edward and the service that delivers it.
What the site collects, and why
- Form submissions. If you use the contact form, the speaking inquiry form, or a newsletter signup box, we receive the information you enter (for example your name, email address, message, and any event details you provide). It is used only to reply to you, to evaluate a speaking request, or to add you to the mailing list you asked to join.
- Newsletter email address. If you subscribe, your email address is stored so we can send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time, and doing so removes you from the list.
- A theme preference. Your choice of dark or light mode is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is not a tracking cookie, it never leaves your browser, and it is not sent to any server.
The site does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, fingerprinting, or any similar tracking technology.
Service providers
A few third parties help run the site. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy governing its handling of your data.
- GitHub Pages hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers may log standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type when a page is served. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Web3Forms processes form submissions and delivers them to Edward by email. It receives the contents of any form you submit.
- The newsletter provider (currently the same form service, moving to Buttondown) stores your email address to send the newsletter you subscribed to.
- Google Fonts serves the site's typefaces from Google's servers (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests a font, Google may receive your IP address as part of serving it, governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Google Calendar powers the "book a call" scheduling links. If you follow one to book time, your scheduling details are handled by Google Calendar.
Embedded YouTube videos
Some pages embed videos using the YouTube player in privacy-enhanced mode (served from youtube-nocookie.com), and link to videos on Edward's YouTube channel. When you play an embedded video or follow a link to YouTube, YouTube and Google may collect information about that interaction and may set their own cookies, as described in their policies. This site does not control and does not receive that data.
Your use of embedded YouTube content is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can manage or delete the data Google holds about you, including data from embedded players, through Google's account settings and, for YouTube ad settings, the Google security and privacy controls.
Cookies
roske.ai sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or analytics cookies. It stores a single dark/light theme preference in your browser's local storage. Third-party embeds (such as a YouTube player) may set their own cookies if you interact with them; those are governed by the third party's policy, linked above.
How long data is kept
Messages you send through a form live in Edward's email like any other correspondence, and are kept only as long as useful for the conversation. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. There is no other stored visitor data, because the site keeps none.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.
- Ask us to delete information you have sent, or ask what we hold, by emailing the address below. Since the site stores almost nothing, this is usually a quick request to handle.
- Clear the theme preference any time by clearing your browser's site data for roske.ai.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL (roske.ai/privacy) and the effective date above will be revised.
